Monaco in 2027: the year’s events, from the Grand Prix to the Yacht Show

In Monaco, the year is marked out by its events. The rally and the circus festival take up January, the tennis tournament opens the spring, the circuit hosts Formula E and then the Grand Prix between May and June, and September brings the classic yachts followed by the Yacht Show. Each of them fills the same rooms and the same tables, in a territory so compact that a busy week can be felt in every street.

What follows is the 2027 calendar, season by season, and what each event takes to prepare. The dates are those announced so far; any not yet announced are marked as such.

January: the rally, the circus and Sainte-Dévote

The Monte-Carlo Rally, a round of the World Rally Championship, holds its 95th edition from 18 to 24 January 2027, between the Principality and the roads of the Alps, where most of the stages are decided. The Historic Monte-Carlo Rally follows from 27 January to 3 February, with period cars on the winter roads that made the rally’s name, run as a regularity event.

Over the same fortnight, the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival holds its 49th edition under the big top at Fontvieille, from 22 to 31 January, with the awards gala on 26 January. Sainte-Dévote’s Day, on 27 January, is a public holiday in the Principality.

January is therefore divided between the road and the circus ring. Following the rally takes some of the days well away from Monaco, on mountain roads where the time of departure depends on the stage schedule and the weather. For those days we arrange the car and driver, with a route settled the evening before. For the evenings, the table and the festival seats are requested before you arrive, and for the gala and the final performances, as soon as booking opens.

April to June: the tennis, then the season on the circuit

The Monte-Carlo Masters, the first Masters 1000 clay-court tournament of the season, is played from 3 to 11 April 2027. Art Monte-Carlo then brings together galleries of modern and contemporary art, from 22 to 24 April.

The motoring events then follow one another:

  • the Monaco E-Prix, for Formula E, on 1 and 2 May, on the Circuit de Monaco;
  • Top Marques Monaco, the supercar show, from 5 to 9 May;
  • the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, from 3 to 6 June.

A four-day Grand Prix in 2027

The Grand Prix includes a sprint race on the Saturday, and the organiser announces it over four days, from Thursday to Sunday, with the main race on Sunday 6 June. There are therefore more days that matter than in an ordinary weekend, and the stay is built around the ones you want to follow closely. The choice between a terrace, a yacht and a room with a view, and what we check before securing any of them, is set out on our Monaco page.

A circuit built into the town

Work on the installations begins several weeks before the races. It brings diversions, one-way streets and parking restrictions, and the streets on the circuit reopen only in the evenings between events. During the weeks of assembly and racing, a stay is therefore planned around the traffic arrangements of the moment as much as around the address: the hotel, the evening table and the morning appointment are not always on the same side of the circuit.

Top Marques falls in the middle of this period. If a car seen at the show becomes a purchase, the search continues once the show is over, and it falls within our supercar search and introductions.

Summer: athletics, the exhibition and the sea

The Herculis meeting, Monaco’s round of the athletics Diamond League, takes place on Friday 9 July 2027 at the Stade Louis II. The summer exhibition, devoted in 2027 to René Magritte under the title ‘Cut out. Paste.’, runs from 3 July to 12 September.

In summer, demand comes from the sea, the terraces and the evenings rather than from one event, and it extends along the whole coast. A summer stay in Monaco can be combined with a few days elsewhere on the French Riviera, and our article on Saint-Tropez in high season sets out the lead times for a villa and a beach table in July and August.

In July and August, we prepare the stay as a run of days without fixed appointments. Tables for the evenings that matter are requested before you leave, the day at sea is confirmed that morning with the weather, and the rest is decided during the stay.

September: classic yachts, then the Yacht Show

In odd-numbered years, the Monaco Classic Week brings traditional yachts into the harbour. The 2027 edition runs from 8 to 11 September. Two weeks later, the Monaco Yacht Show fills Port Hercule from Wednesday 22 to Saturday 25 September, with around a hundred and twenty superyachts announced, presented for sale or for charter.

The Classic Week is watched from the quays. The Yacht Show is a show geared to the trade: shipyards, designers and brokers exhibit there, and access is arranged by category of ticket. The show is covered on foot, from one quay to the next, without leaving the harbour.

A September stay can cover both weeks or settle on one, and the room is requested as soon as your dates are set. If you are coming for a particular yacht, the request to visit on board is made before the show. On show days, we book lunches and dinners within walking distance of the harbour, so that the table does not send you back to a car.

November and the seasons indoors

Monaco’s National Day, on 19 November, is a public holiday every year. The Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival takes place at the end of November; the dates of the 2027 edition have not yet been announced.

From one autumn to the next, much of the Monegasque year also happens indoors. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo present their season, the Philharmonic Orchestra’s runs from mid-September to early July, and the Printemps des Arts spreads its concerts over several weekends in March and April; its 2027 edition has not yet been announced.

These evenings are prepared with the programme in hand. As soon as it is published, we note the dates that fall within your stay, we request the seats, and dinner is booked for after the concert.

Conclusion

For the Monegasque year, what matters most is to settle early on the event that brings you, then to build the stay around it. The weeks described here fill the Principality several months ahead, and the dates still missing will be published as the year goes on.

The stay itself, from the arrival to the tables, is set out on our Monaco page, alongside our other destinations. For a few days in Paris before or after, our article Paris in three or four days describes how to prepare them.
